About Organisation:
Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health, established by the Uganda Cancer Institute Act, 2016. The Act mandates the Institute to manage and coordinate cancer care and cancer-related conditions across the country. UCI’s core functions include cancer treatment, prevention, research, and training in fields such as Oncology, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Radiotherapy, Surgery, Imaging and Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and other related specialties.
Job Summary: To provide quality nursing services at UCI
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible to Senior ICT Officer for performing the following duties: –
- Provide quality nursing and midwifery services
- Prepare and submit reports
- Allocate and supervise duties of Enrolled Nurses
- Coach and mentor Enrolled Nurses e) Participate in research activities for evidence-based practice
- Implement nursing protocols
- Manage performance of Enrolled Nurses
- Account for supplies and drugs
- Conduct PHC and health education
- Strictly adhere to code of conduct and ethics
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A diploma in Midwifery/ Nursing/ Psychiatric Nursing or Comprehensive Nursing
- Must be registered with the UNMC and hold a valid practicing license
- Key competencies required for the post: The incumbent should have competences in: Results orientation; Concern for quality and standards; Problem solving and decision making; Team work; Public relations and customer care; Ethics and integrity; Planning, organizing and coordinating; and Managing employee performance; Report writing skills; Research; ICT; Experience providing medical services; Counselling Skills; Customer focused with ability to decipher customer expectations.
