Job Title: Senior Accountant
Organisation: Avocado Oil Processing Plant
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To accurately maintain a general ledger ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Managing billing for the Company including allocating all monthly costs to the respective projects;
- Ensuring compilation of all supporting documentation for customer invoices;
- Charges expenses to accounts and cost centres by analysing invoice/ and expense reports, recording entries.
- Liaise with Customs agents to ensure all duties and other Import/Export charges are paid on time;
- Ensuring all due payments are affected in time by scheduling pay cheques and ensuring payment is received for outstanding credit and generally responding to all supplier enquiries regarding finance.
- Preparation and submission of periodic financial reports and Annual Budgets to Management.
- Support internal and external audit functions by ensuring all necessary documentation is ready and in compliance with the standard.
- Ensure reliability of accounting and tax information by implementing appropriate procedures, checks and performance indicators, tax returns and other statutory deductions
- Ensure adherence to all company internal controls, financial policies and procedures;
- Oversee the maintenance of a proper and functional data registry and filing system;
- Conduct and supervise monthly inventory stock takes and maintaining reconciliation schedules;
- Facilitation and timely closure of all accounting module.
- Ensure cost minimization on all functions in the company
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of a B’COM, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or in a relevant discipline.
- Must have a Professional certification in Accounting, ACCA, CPA (U)
- Knowledgeable in accounting software, ERP, Tally, SAP
- A minimum of 5 years’ + experience in a similar role in a busy Manufacturing environment.
