Job Title: Poultry Farm Manager

Duty Station: Mpigi, Uganda
About Organisation:
Lunar Poultry Farm is located in Mawokota Mpigi District Uganda with current production capacity of 25,000 to 50,000 broiler birds per flock cycle
Job Summary: The farm is seeking to recruit a highly experienced, competent hardworking and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Farm Manager. The role requires a blend of technical expertise in large- scale commercial poultry farming, strong business and financial acumen, and effective team leadership.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Brooding
- Flock management & health
- Production management and performance monitoring
- Operational management and farm maintenance supervision
- Biosecurity management and veterinary supervision
- Staff management and leadership
- Reporting – Productivity. Mortalities, Feed Conversion Ratios, Manure, inputs, Costs (KPI)
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Diploma in Animal Science, Poultry Management, Agriculture or a related field.
- Five (5) years of practical experience in commercial poultry operations, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or management role.
- In-depth knowledge of poultry physiology, nutrition, and disease management.
Skills and Competencies:
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage a team
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable with use of
- farm management software, data analysis, and farming equipment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and perform tasks in all weather conditions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for dealing with staff, management and clients.
- Business Acumen: Understanding of budgeting, cost control, and operational efficiency
- Passion: A genuine passion for poultry and a commitment to high standards of quality and welfare.
