We have worked in Uganda since 1986, in partnership with the Government of Uganda, national and local NGOs, jointly improving the livelihoods of the most vulnerable population in rural areas through interventions that increase their Food and Nutrition Security, improve sustainable access to WASH services, innovative youth skilling and women’s empowerment programs in five regions of Uganda.
Job Summary: The position is to be based at the Country Office in Kampala with administrative and relevant technical support to the Economic Empowerment and Youth Skills focused projects, reporting to the Sector Advisor Economic Development and Youth Skills, and work with the team and relevant partner organisations. It will be offered for an initial contract duration of one year. The position is to be filled as of 01.01.2026.
The aim of this position is to provide professional field support to project partner staff during the implementation of all skills development projects. Promote quality in the skills development processes and where necessary demonstrate to partner staff with the aim of developing their capacity to generate the planned project outcomes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of regional and country concepts, project proposals, and concept papers.
- Prepare planning documents for new projects in consultation with the Country Director, local staff, and partners.
- Monitor project reporting timelines, review narrative reports, and submit feedback to relevant offices.
- Provide technical support and guidance to national staff on project-specific issues.
- Support the preparation and regular updates of project operational plans.
- Contribute to implementation and progress reports, including updates on local developments.
- Participate in coordination committees and working groups, particularly during emergency response situations.
- Assist in preparations for visits, including logistics and visitor support.
- Draft and compile media and communication materials in coordination with the supervisor.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of project materials and reports.
- Perform additional tasks assigned by management consistent with the role.
- Support other projects or field offices when required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Foundational knowledge of skills development, including adult education, vocational training (TVET), and life or business skills in formal and informal settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and maintain focus during high workloads.
