About Organisation:
Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) is a statutory organization established by Uganda Tourism Board Statute of 1994 and reconstituted in the Tourism Act 2008 with the following Statutory Objectives:
- To promote and contribute to the Development of Tourism sector both within and outside of Uganda.
- To coordinate with the Ministry responsible for Tourism and the private sector in the implementation of the National Tourism policy.
- To carry out any other activities as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the two objectives specified above.
Job Summary:
- To effectively represent UTB. prosecute and defend cases for and against UTB in courts of law and quasi-judicial bodies
- To give legal advice, draft contracts/agreements/ MOUs and assist the Manager in conducting Board Affairs
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor of Laws with honors (LLB) from a recognised and reputable University.
- Postgraduate diploma in Legal Practice (Dip LP),
- Certificate of Enrolment as an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda,
- Valid Practising Certificate
- At least 3 years of relevant post enrolment experience
Skills
- Ability to provide sound legal advice on all matters pertinent to UTB’s statutory mandate
- Ability to draft various types of legal documents and legal briefs
- Demonstrable experience in case management, litigation and Court practice
- Ability to conduct extensive and comprehensive legal research to aid in decision making
- Good communication and analytical skills
- Proven high level of integrity
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Problem solving skills
