Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.
Job Summary: The Inventory Clerk is responsible for the efficient management, storage, and issuance of feeds, materials, and equipment for both hatchery and grow-out operations. The role ensures accurate inventory control, proper storage practices, and timely distribution of supplies to support smooth production activities while minimizing losses.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive, store, and issue feeds, equipment, and materials as per operational needs.
- Ensure all machinery, tools, and spare parts are properly stored and tracked.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular stock counts.
- Monitor and ensure proper storage conditions to prevent spoilage or damage.
- Coordinate with hatchery and grow-out teams to anticipate material and equipment requirements.
- Report any discrepancies, shortages, or damaged items promptly to the supervisor.
- Adhere to safe material handling and lifting procedures.
- Use appropriate PPE (gloves, safety shoes, masks, etc.) during handling and storage activities.
- Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free storage areas.
- Immediately report spills, hazards, or unsafe working conditions.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Diploma in Fisheries & Aquaculture, Inventory Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in warehouse or inventory management, preferably in aquaculture or agricultural operations.
- Strong knowledge of stock handling, storage, and record-keeping procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
