About Organisation:

BRAC Uganda Bank Ltd launched on 25 April 2019 and attained its current status as a Tier II Credit institution following a successful background as the leading Microfinances services provider in Uganda. The bank operates 32 regulated branches and 159 satellite offices covering 84 districts in Uganda targeting Micro, Small. and Medium Entrepreneurs. BRAC Uganda Bank Ltd promotes financial inclusion by extending financial services to unserved and underserved populations especially women and youth as well as people living in poverty in rural areas. The Bank is operationally and financially self-sustaining with over 231,000 active customers and a loan book in excess of Ushs.175 billion.

Job Summary: To Develop, implement and monitor the Bank’s Busl-ness Growth strategy in line with organizational goals and objectives whilst ensuring that the strategy is successfully generating and contributing to the growth of BRAC Uganda

Bank Limited’s Assets and Liabilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategy.

  • Develop and implement Business Growth Strategy to achieve the Bank’s strategic objectives in alignment with the mission and vision of the bank
  • Develop strategic collaborative partnerships to maximize and add value to the growth of the bank while mitigating the risks and exposure of its target market
  • Ensure that the strategy, business plans, budgets along with the policies/ procedures are timely communicated to the respective staff and other stake-holders
  • Monitor the departmental performance against the strategic plans, clearly identifying performance gaps and supporting management team members to put in place plans to address gaps

Business Growth

  • Drive initiatives to maximize cross-selling opportunities for the benefit of the bank in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Deliver on overall management of the department operations ensuring growth of the loan book and port-folio quality management.
  • Drive the management of BUBL credit processes end to end from customer recruitment, loan pro-cessing or underwriting, credit information review and reporting, recovery, all functions providing lending support in the department, and formulation of loan policies, procedures and processes to ensure the overall good quality of BUBL’s lending portfolio
  • Conduct relevant market intelligence and competitor analysis to ensure timely interventions/strategies to drive growth of the bank’s assets and liabilities
  • Spearhead the BUBL’s expansion into new strategic markets and implement go-to market strategies to target market segment that will result in quantifiable business support initiatives in alignment with BUBL objectives

Savings mobilization

  • Develop deposit mobilization strategy and plans to include (Grow the deposit base, Grow customer numbers, Relationship management, Customer Experience, delivery channels and technological innovations

Digital Financial Services

  • Drive innovation and implement and use digital delivery channels to develop and deliver outstanding products, customer experience, increase organizational efficiency and find the right balance between tech and touch for BUBL’s customers
  • Think creatively and implement new uses for technology to address access, usage, literacy, security and other barriers of BUBL’s customers.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Economics or related fields.
  • At least Ten (10) years’ banking experience, 5 of which should be at management level.
  • Master’s degree is an added advantage
  • Experience in microfinance financial institution
  • Proven track record of developing strategies, policies, systems and procedures for the delivery of customer service in a financial institution.
  • Knowledge of Ugandan banking regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Networking skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to lead people in multidisciplinary /Multicultural team setting
  • Time management and adherence to timeliness
  • Continuous improvement and innovation
  • Formulating concepts and strategies
