Job Summary: The goal of this job function is to provide driver services, maintain vehicles, and assist with administrative operations for the Trade for Jobs Uganda initiative.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the ITC Trade for Jobs Uganda Project Manager and in close coordination with the Trade for Jobs Uganda Deputy Team Lead, the Driver will perform the following duties:

  • Drive vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel.
  • Meet officials and visitors at the airport including assisting, where necessary, with protocol, visa and customs formalities. Deal effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors.
  • Deliver and collect mail and documents and other items
  • Ensure proper use of vehicle and accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and documentation.
  • Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes and water levels, car washing, etc. to always keep the vehicle clean and in good running condition.
  • Ensure availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit and other MOSS-compliant equipment, and necessary spare parts in assigned vehicles.
  • Inform the supervisor in a timely manner of (re)registration and insurance procedures for all the office vehicles.
  • Keep updated of the security situation, risk and inform office for alternatives.
  • Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
  • Assist with filing, photocopying and maintaining stores.
  • Perform data entry duties.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent is required. A valid driver’s license is required.
  • EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two years of work experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required. Note: A university degree may be accepted in lieu of the years of relevant experience. Experience working with technical cooperation projects is desirable. Experience working with UN Common System offices, field missions, embassies, ministries, consulates, other international organizations, or NGOs is desirable is desirable

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of any other language(s) spoken in Uganda is an asset.
