Job Title: Community Relations Officer

About Organisation:
Asili Farms is a fully-mechanized farming company that manages dual-season production of high-quality maize and soybeans for supply to regional food processors. Asili became operational in January 2014 and is currently farming on over 5,000 ha of land in Western Uganda under a conservation agriculture and precision farming approach to maximize yields efficiently and sustainably.
Job Summary: The Community Relations Officer will lead stakeholder engagement, strengthen community partnerships, and support implementation of corporate social responsibility and safeguarding initiatives across Asili’s operational areas.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organize regular meetings and forums with community leaders, local government, and other stakeholders.
- Manage and implement the company’s grievance redress mechanism, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Coordinate CSR activities such as Women’s Day, Youth Day, and awareness campaigns on gender and safeguarding.
- Recruit and train community volunteers to support HSE, fire prevention, wildlife management, and whistleblowing programs.
- Support livelihood restoration and resettlement activities during land expansion projects.
- Provide crisis management and engagement support for new and ongoing company projects.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Relations, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in community relations or stakeholder engagement.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience in safeguarding and gender training.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work independently in rural settings.
- Knowledge of Ugandan child protection and gender laws, and international safeguarding standards.
- Fluency in English and local languages (Luganda, Kiswahili, Runyoro) preferred.
- Work Conditions
- Based in Kigumba, with regular travel (up to 50%) to Asili operational sites.
- Must be flexible to conduct community trainings and handle safeguarding matters outside of regular work hours.
- Office and field-based role, requiring cultural sensitivity and strong interpersonal skills.
