Job Summary: Tembo Steels (U) Ltd, one of East Africa’s leading integrated steel manufacturers, is seeking a qualified and results-oriented Assistant Stores Manager to join our operations at the Lugazi Plant.
The successful candidate will support the Stores Manager in overseeing daily store operations to ensure efficient inventory management, adherence to safety and operational procedures, and timely issuance of materials to production units.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise the receipt, verification, and proper storage of raw materials, consumables, spare parts, and finished products.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP or other inventory management systems.
- Coordinate material issuance in line with approved production schedules.
- Enforce compliance with safety, housekeeping, and operational standards.
- Conduct periodic stock counts and prepare accurate inventory reports.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Diploma or higher qualification in Stores Management, Logistics, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment (experience in the steel sector is an added advantage).
- Proficiency in ERP or inventory management systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to perform under pressure.
