Job Title: Plant Accountant

Abubaker Technical Services and General Supplies Limited is a Civil Engineering and Construction works-oriented company that was registered in 2002 under number 52003 by the registrar of Companies. It is a limited liability company and commenced operations in the year 2005.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts for the assigned manufacturing plant (Asphalt, or Concrete making machines).
- Analyze plant financial performance, including production costs, variances, and profitability.
- Prepare and present regular financial reports to plant management and the Financial Controller.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses for capital expenditure proposals and operational improvements.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support plant decision-making.
Cost Accounting and Control:
- Implement and maintain a robust cost accounting system for the plant.
- Track and analyze production costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead.
- Monitor and control inventory levels and valuations for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives.
- Analyze production variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure accurate costing of finished goods for inventory valuation and sales pricing.
Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory control procedures to ensure accurate tracking and valuation of all plant inventories.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts and minimize holding costs.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconciliations.
- Analyze inventory turnover and identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory.
Plant-Specific Financial Management:
- Manage the financial aspects of plant operations, including procurement, production, and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and company policies.
- Liaise with plant management to address financial issues and provide support.
- Monitor and manage plant-specific capital expenditures.
- Ensure accurate recording and reporting of plant production data.
- Participate in plant production meetings to give financial input.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor plant finance staff.
- Ensure that the plant finance team has the appropriate tools and training to complete their tasks.
- Promote a culture of financial responsibility and accountability.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in cost accounting and financial analysis within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost control techniques.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with plant management and staff.
- Understanding of inventory control methods.
