Job Summary:

  • Business performance reporting including functional reporting
  • Managing for Value reporting- product and customer profitability reports
  • Support the development of Balance Sheet management
  • Acts as first hand contact for business functions in analyzing and interpreting financial information
  • Monitor competition’s activities (reporting comparative analysis of the market data)
  • Manage the Medium-Term Plan (MTP) and Short-Term Plan (STP) process with different functions

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Performance Reporting

  • Lead in development and preparation of Absa Uganda’s short-term plan (STP), medium term plan (MTP) and rolling forecast (RAF) and budgets.
  • Build effective working relationships with business stakeholders to develop a detailed understanding of their business imperatives and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities through which data and analytics can assist in addressing business challenges.
  • Oversee collection and packaging of data into usable and user-friendly management information for the relevant teams and stakeholders in the organization.
  • Effective preparation and presentation of regular performance reports to EXCO and Board, particularly related to needs of the business to aid performance measurement and management.
  • Identify opportunities in support of the business initiatives through analysis of the internal business management information as well as external industry information.
  • Analyze trends within the business data to reduce risks, optimize performance of the business and inform decision making.
  • Provide advice and support to management on financial risks that might have an impact on profitability by discussing at regular intervals all financial related matters.
  • Check and challenge functional budgets thereby ensuring that they are realistic and stretching.
  • Required to persuade and drive the delivery of financial targets through regular discussions with Retail, Business Banking, Corporate, and Markets.

Technical Experience and Capability

  • In depth understanding of short-, medium- and long-term strategies, goals and objectives
  • Detailed knowledge of Management Accounting
  • Detailed understanding of Managing for Value reporting
  • Strong Computer skills and other Analytical tools- TM1
  • Comprehensive understanding of product set and services of Corporate, Treasury and Retail portfolios
  • Detailed understanding of customer segmentation and service principles
  • Good knowledge of commercial and competitor environment
  • An appreciation of the external economic, political, legal and regulatory environment and their impact to the business.
  • Any other duties that maybe assigned to you from time to time by the Bank.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • University degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Or a full Professional qualification in Accounting such as ACCA, qualified with strong accounting background.

Preferred Experience

  • Training in influencing and leadership skills
  • Performance development training
  • In depth understanding of the business model, strategy, market opportunities and threats, competition dynamics, product portfolio, supplier relationships and customer profiles as this is key to providing a unique perspective that looks across different dynamics
  • Comprehensive understanding of product set and services of Corporate, Retail, Business Banking, Markets, and Treasury portfolios
  • Detailed understanding of customer segmentation and service principles
  • Good knowledge of commercial/retail and competitor environment
  • An appreciation of the external economic, political, legal and regulatory environment and their impact to the business.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills

  • Planning and organization skills
  • Ability to think creatively and identify innovative solutions
  • Excellent comprehension skills to understand and interpret financial data and economic trends.
  • Highly numeric/strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, working accurately with attention to detail, and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and enhance relationships with stakeholders in order to achieve work goals.
