Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Finance Manager to lead our finance function, strengthen internal controls, and establish robust cost-center based reporting systems. The Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in aligning financial management with project execution, supplier management, and growth objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Develop and monitor budgets across cost centers (construction sites, fit-out projects, corporate overheads).
- Implement project-based accounting to track profitability, expenses, and revenue recognition.
- Preparation of financials and systems for external audit
- Ensure periodical reconciliations.
Systems & Controls
- Establish and maintain accounting systems that meet URA/IFRS compliance, including EFRIS integration.
- Ensure cost allocations between projects, overhead, and shared resources are accurate.
- Strengthen controls for cash flow, project advances, retention, and supplier payments.
- Work with external auditors (RKA) to implement recommendations, streamline reconciliations, and close compliance gaps.
Tax & Compliance
- Manage all tax obligations including VAT, WHT, PAYE, and Construction-specific URA rules.
- Coordinate filing of returns and ensure timely tax payments.
- Liaise with RKA consultants, URA, and regulators to maintain compliance.
Cash Flow & Treasury
- Monitor daily cash flow and prepare rolling forecasts.
- Manage project advances, supplier invoices, and subcontractor claims.
- Evaluate financing needs and support management in negotiations with banks and partners.
- Review, verify all approved payment vouchers in the accounting system.
- Final reconciliation and verification of customer, vendor and bank account balances.
Strategic Support
- Provide financial insights to guide project bidding, contract negotiations, and cost optimization.
- Develop dashboards and KPIs for management decision-making.
- Drive value-engineering initiatives to improve project margins.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA/ACCA is a strong advantage.
- Minimum 6–8 years of experience in finance roles, at least 3 years in construction, engineering, or related sectors.
- Proven experience in project accounting, cost center management, and contract compliance.
- Strong knowledge of URA taxation, EFRIS, IFRS, and Ugandan construction sector regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and systems-implementation abilities.
