Zembo Motorcycles SMC Limited is leading the African transition to electric mobility. Based in Kampala, Uganda, we provide affordable (PayGo) electric two-wheelers to low-income motorcycle-taxi drivers, most known locally as “boda-boda ”drivers. We offer a battery swapping service to our clients, enabling to swap within minutes at any of our stations.
Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and experienced Sales Team Lead to drive our sales efforts for electric motorcycles and related services. The Sales Team Lead will manage and mentor a team of sales representatives, develop strategies to meet and exceed sales targets, and foster strong client relationships, particularly with motorcycle taxi drivers. This role requires excellent leadership, communication, and sales skills, along with a passion for sustainable mobility and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of sales representatives to achieve individual and collective sales goals, fostering a culture of collaboration and enthusiasm.
- Sales Strategy Development: Create and implement effective sales strategies to drive revenue growth, focusing on expanding the adoption of Zembo’s electric motorcycles and battery swap services.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, particularly motorcycle taxi drivers, to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze sales performance metrics, providing feedback and coaching to enhance team productivity and effectiveness.
- Market Expansion: Identify new sales opportunities and explore market trends to grow Zembo’s customer base in Uganda and beyond.
- Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, operations, and technical teams to align sales efforts with company objectives and ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Training and Development: Recruit, train, and onboard new sales agents, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to promote Zembo’s products effectively.
- Reporting: Prepare and present sales reports to senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Customer Service: Address customer inquiries and complaints promptly, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in sales, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role. Experience in automotive, motorcycle, or related industries is a plus.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a sales team to meet or exceed targets.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse clients.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze sales data and market trends to make data-driven decisions.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and sales tracking tools.
- Passion for Sustainability: Strong interest in electric mobility and environmental sustainability.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic, self-organized startup environment with significant autonomy and responsibility.
- Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the Ugandan market, particularly the motorcycle taxi industry, is an advantage.
