The company’s manufacturing portfolio includes Point of Care tests, Molecular Diagnostics tests and Research and development in the neglected tropical diseases.

Job Summary: The Communication Specialist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team on a day to-day with the overall aim of developing a comprehensive communications strategy for the company and sphere heading communication within the and outside of the company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the creation of comprehensive communication strategies for the company, placing a strong emphasis on content creation, editing, and the maintenance of a consistent brand voice. These strategies will bolster the company’s reputation and ensure messaging uniformity.
  • Drive effective internal communications by crafting and delivering compelling messages to employees, ensuring they are consistently well-informed about company news, policies, and initiatives. This includes managing executive presentations and leadership events.
  • Serve as the primary content creator, with a primary focus on crafting press releases. Collaborate closely with external PR agencies to maintain a cohesive brand voice across various media relations, blog posts, paid media placement, and company award submissions. Together, we will effectively promote the company’s initiatives, products, and values, with PR agencies taking the lead on media interview responses and coordination.
  • Develop and curate content across diverse communication channels, including websites, press releases, practice group profiles, corporate documents, strategic plans, marketing collateral, and executive presentations. This role will provide invaluable support to the Managing Director and Director Sales & Marketing, ensuring that important, timely, and relevant information is effectively communicated at all organizational levels.
  • Support and coordinate the creation of promotional videos (documentary or testimonials) filming company events and functions in different venues, while organizing the entire production process (preparation, production and post production).
  • Support the company’s public events on regional and national level in order to achieve better public understanding, recognition and visibility of the company’s products.
  • Preparing executive presentations and managing social media handles for the Managing Director in a professional and effective manner.
  • Select and propose quality photos and videos for inclusion in the company’s corporate photo database; and liaise with the Sales & Marketing department and Ministry of Health on the coverage of national events.
  • Work closely with the Sales & Marketing team to design high impact messaging for TV and radio both at national and international level by producing short documentaries, success stories and lessons learnt from the African continent.
  • Arrange interviews and/or press conferences and support company in identifying relevant internal experts to answer media queries and participate in interviews.
  • Prepare press releases on key activities in close coordination with the Managing Director and ensure they are released to the audience on a timely manner.
  • Maintain contacts with key information units in the government and as well as key partners.
  • Lead in the preparation of priority communication materials based on the communications plan, and other communication materials as required by the company communication protocol as aligned to the overall communications strategy.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • Advanced university degree in journalism, mass communications, marketing or other related courses;
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in communication work, including media relations and the use of new and traditional media in a corporate environment.
  • Working knowledge of a scientific manufacturing environment and government procedures will be an added advantage.
