Job Summary: The Business and Investment Analyst is responsible for conducting in-depth analysis of investment requests and market opportunities in Uganda. The role provides critical insights on market trends, risks, and financial implications to support informed decision-making by management and regional leadership.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze investment requests including memos, business plans, quotations, and supporting documents.
- Conduct comprehensive market analysis covering competition, regulatory frameworks, taxation, financial data, and overall business environment.
- Evaluate project risks and provide timely alerts and recommendations to management.
- Prepare business plans, retro-planning schedules, and full project reports/analyses.
- Research information from multiple sources (e.g., web, legal bodies, industry associations, suppliers, banks, advisors).
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure alignment and support for investment projects.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders including banks, suppliers, and advisors on project-related matters.
- Provide periodic updates and insights to the Management Team on ongoing projects and new opportunities.
- Support the Regional Team and COMEX with accurate data and analysis to inform strategic decisions.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (CPA qualification is an advantage).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar analytical role.
- Experience in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to research and synthesize information from diverse sources.
- Extent of Authority
- Conduct market analyses to identify potential growth opportunities.
- Prepare investment business plans and reports for management decision-making.
- Liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective project execution.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of project management tools and methods.
