About Organisation:
The Bank of Uganda (BoU) is the Central Bank of the Republic of Uganda. It was opened on the 15th August 1966. It is 100% owned by the Government of Uganda but it is not a government Department. Bank of Uganda conducts all its activities in close association with the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED). Bank of Uganda is responsible for monetary policy and maintaining price stability.
Job Summary: To manage and maintain the Bank’s data storage systems and ensure business continuity. This role involves configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting storage systems as well as planning and implementing business resumption strategies to support the Bank’s IT operations effectively.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage data storage configurations to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Develop and implement business resumption plans to ensure data integrity and availability in case of disruptions.
- Continuously monitor storage performance, identify issues, and perform troubleshooting to resolve problems.
- Implement and maintain security measures for storage systems including access controls and data protection.
- Develop and implement data recovery plans and procedures to ensure rapid and effective restoration of data in the event of loss or corruption.
- Oversee and manage data backup processes to ensure all critical data is regularly backed up and stored securely.
- Maintain accurate documentation of storage configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Own and continuously improve the enterprise data backup strategy ensuring alignment with business continuity and disaster recovery objectives.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure timely and effective support and maintenance.
- Ensure storage operations comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Provide technical support for storage-related issues and perform routine maintenance tasks.
- Participate in the evaluation of IT-related procurements ensuring storage requirements are met.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Team Leader, Data Storage Services from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A First or Upper Second-Class degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, or Engineering.
- Professional certifications in storage management, IT Service Management (ITIL), Database Administration (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, CompTIA Storage+, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
Work Experience:
- At least five (5) years of relevant working experience in database administration, storage management, and business resumption planning.
Age:
- 30.0 – 38.0 years of age as at close of the advert.
