Job Title: Senior IT Officer

Job Summary: Ensure that all the different information systems deliver as required to the users proficiently as well as plan, implement and improve the integrity of the soft resources and the new acquisitions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in Identifying, specifying, implementing and supporting systems for various University functions and needs;
- Assist in determining the technological needs of the University and seek to meet those needs by recommending solutions;
- Participate in developing and maintaining the inventory of systems across the University;
- Participate in Planning and implementing business continuity efforts for the various information systems;
- Assist in planning and administering recovery measures for information systems;
- Help in planning systems expansion and improvement;
- Support academic and administrative units in specifying and implementing their internal systems;
- Participate in setting policies and procedures for information systems;
- Carry out a trends watch function in a systems field and plan for innovations;
- Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Masters Degree in Information Technology or Information Science/System or Library or Information Science/ Bachelor of Science in Statistics, Mathematics/Physics/Electrical/Electronics or Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Software Engineering or Information Systems and Technology and any other ICT related programs from recognized University/Institution;
- An Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Information Science/System or Library or Information Science/ Bachelor of Science in Statistics, Mathematics/Physics/Electrical/Electronics or Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Software Engineering or Information Systems and Technology and any other ICT-related programs from recognized University/Institution;
- Relevant professional certification.
Experience
- A minimum of Six (6) years working experience three of which should be at the level of IT Officer.
Skills/Competences
- Advanced knowledge of computer systems and software;
- Advanced knowledge in Information systems management;
- Advanced knowledge of Information systems and data security/ integrity management;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Teamwork skills;
- Output oriented;
- Initiative and innovative.
