The Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) is an indigenous medical organization that was established in 1991 as a limited liability not-for-profit Joint-venture between the Uganda Ministry of Health (MoH), Ministry of Defense and Makerere University Medical School (now Makerere University College of Health Sciences). JCRC is located on plot 101 Lubowa Hill Off Entebbe Road P.O. Box 10005 Kampala
Job Summary: The candidate shall primarily be responsible for participant mobilization and recruitment, accurate completion of visit procedures and collection of information from study participants according to protocols, and for protecting the health, safety, and welfare of research participants.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruiting and screening of study participants.
- Counselling and management of patients on research studies.
- Performing and documenting study evaluations, medical histories, adverse effects, physical assessment and specimen collection.
- Clinical Trial medication administration and monitoring.
- Accurate data collection about study participants.
- Ensuring quality assurance as per good clinical practice and sponsor regulatory requirements.
- Developing standard operating procedures for research and clinical procedures.
- Manage and account for participant reimbursements.
- Initiate and follow-up procurement of supplies for assigned studies.
- Interfacing with monitors and ensure that their queries are resolved on time.
- Act as a back-up for study coordinators.
- Any other duties that will be assigned to you by management from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelors or a Diploma in Nursing is required.
- Ability to conduct quality control checks.
- Must possess Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Human Subject Protection (HSP) certificates.
- Having worked as a research nurse in a reputable research organization is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of MS packages will be an added advantage.
- The candidate should have a wide range of skills including management and organizational skills, teaching and mentoring, communication and good computer skills. He or she should be able to take initiative, eager to learn new things, organized, assertive, flexible, good communicator, self-assured, robust, leader, autonomous and a creative thinker.
