Job Summary: Are you a resilient and persuasive field professional who thrives on solving challenges? Do you have the drive to recover debts, negotiate with clients, and safeguard portfolio quality? Uwezo Microfinance is seeking a proactive and results-oriented Recovery Officer to join our Risk & Recovery team at the Kampala Head Office.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement effective debt collection strategies to recover outstanding loans.
  • Visit clients’ homes or businesses to demand repayment and negotiate payment plans.
  • Engage guarantors and co-borrowers in the recovery process.
  • Monitor repayment trends, flag risks, and recommend action for chronic defaulters.
  • Maintain accurate recovery records and prepare regular performance reports.
  • Support the Credit Team with client verification and field investigations.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Business, Finance, Microfinance, or related field.
  • Experience: At least 2 years in a microfinance/banking institution in a similar recovery/ collections role.
  • Language: Must be fluent in spoken and written Luganda and English.
  • Skills: Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities, High integrity, discipline, and ability to work independently in the field.
  • Age: 25-35 years.

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Starting Salary: UGX 700,000 (net)
