Uganda Youth Development Link (UYDEL) is a non-profit organization that started in 1993 with a mission of enhancing socio-economic transformation of disadvantaged young people (10-24 years) both in and out of school, through evidence based interventions that: advocate; create linkages to services and information; and encourage social and livelihood skills development for self-reliance.

 

Job Summary: UYDEL is recruiting a committed and skilled Project Social Worker to support pregnant adolescent girls through case management and livelihood empowerment under a climate-resilience and maternal health initiative. The Social Worker will provide psychosocial support, coordinate referrals, case profiling and management and facilitate access to sustainable livelihood opportunities for the enrolled pregnant adolescents/youth.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive case assessments and develop individualized care plans for adolescent girls.
  • Provide psychosocial support and coordinate referrals to health, legal, and protection services.
  • Identify and link beneficiaries to livelihood opportunities, vocational training, and income-generating activities.
  • Facilitate life skills sessions and mentorship programs tailored to climate-resilient livelihoods.
  • Work closely with community structures to promote safe pregnancies and youth empowerment.
  • Document case progress, success stories, and lessons learned for reporting and learning.
  • Support monitoring and evaluation of case management and livelihood components.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Psychology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in case management and youth livelihoods, preferably in NGO settings.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, SRHR, and climate change impacts on vulnerable populations.
  • Strong facilitation, counseling, and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with community-based approaches and referral systems.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Passionate about youth empowerment and gender equity.
  • Experience working in climate-affected or low-resource communities.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with adolescents and caregivers.
