About Organisation:
The Bank of Uganda (BoU) is the Central Bank of the Republic of Uganda. It was opened on the 15th August 1966. It is 100% owned by the Government of Uganda but it is not a government Department. Bank of Uganda conducts all its activities in close association with the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED). Bank of Uganda is responsible for monetary policy and maintaining price stability.
Job Summary: To design, implement, manage, and maintain the Bank’s enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role involves architecting, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting advanced network systems to support the Bank’s IT operations effectively, with a focus on high availability and scalability.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage enterprise-grade network solutions including Cisco Catalyst Center, SD-WAN, and complex routing and switching topologies
- Configure and maintain high-availability network infrastructure with a focus on scalability, redundancy, and performance optimization
- Implement and maintain network monitoring tools such as Nagios, PRTG Networks, and SolarWinds to ensure proactive issue detection
- Design and implement MPLS connectivity, VPN solutions, and traffic optimization across branch network
- Configure and manage advanced network security features including access control lists, VLANs, and network protocol inspection
- Implement network redundancy solutions using technologies such as Stack wise, EtherChannel, and HSRP
- Continuously monitor network performance, identify issues, provide technical support, and perform troubleshooting to resolve problems
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure timely and effective support and maintenance
- Ensure network operations comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
- Participate in the evaluation of IT-related procurements, ensuring technical
- requirements are met
- Undertake additional duties assigned by the Team Leader Network Infrastructure from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A First or Upper Second-Class degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, or Engineering.
- Professional certifications in network management such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CCNP, or CCIE.
Work Experience:
- At least five (5) years of relevant working experience in enterprise network administration and implementation.
Age:
- 30.0 – 38.0 years of age as at close of the advert.

- Extensive and demonstrable knowledge in enterprise-grade network infrastructure administration
- Proficiency in configuring and managing HP Aruba, Palo Alto, Cisco, Brocade, Huawei, Net Gear, Checkpoint, and/or Mirotic equipment
- Experience with network monitoring tools such as Nagios, PRTG, SolarWinds, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of SD-WAN technologies and implementation methodologies
- Proven expertise in configuring and managing MPLS, VPN, and other WAN technologies
- Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices
- Experience in network performance monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting
- Ability to manage and configure complex network devices and systems
