Job Summary: To play an integral role in driving Global Markets’ revenue growth and fostering client relationships within the global financial markets with the key focus on Derivatives and other structured Global Markets solutions.

This position focuses on promoting and selling a range of financial products and services, including foreign exchange, fixed income and derivatives to corporate clients and individuals across various financial markets.

This incorporates putting in place a sales strategy for increasing the Bank’s share of existing clients’ business and enlarging the current portfolio of clients while ensuring compliance with the highest standards of regulatory conduct and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements. This includes compliance with the local banking laws, other applicable laws and anti-money laundering regulations and guidelines.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute structured products’ sales strategies to achieve Global Markets revenue and business growth targets.
  • Develop and execute a Global Markets Sales strategic plan that is coherent and designed to ‘win’ at the unit level consistent with the overall bank strategy within the approved risk appetite and portfolio standards.
  • To grow the bank’s treasury Fx portfolio and ensure client retention and client acquisition.
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key clients, including institutional investors, hedge funds, asset managers, and corporate treasuries and High Net-worth Individuals
  • Drive account planning and active management of key clients in Uganda to enhance wallet share. Expound on regional relationships.
  • Understand client needs and provide tailored solutions using financial products and services.
  • Regularly update clients on market developments, investment opportunities, and trading strategies.
  • Ensure development of support platforms which includes all functions (people, technology and processes) matches the needs of client facing activities in Uganda.
  • Manage quality of portfolio of Global Markets products by improving current products and developing new ones to ensure the Bank’s dynamic responsiveness to the needs of targeted market segments.
  • Develop a thorough appreciation for each allocated customers’ business and understanding of their potential needs for Global Markets products, through regular liaison with the principal RM for each customer as well as through direct contact with the customer.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate and resolve risk and compliance matters relating to Global Market sales.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of compliance and risk management policies, ensuring adherence across the sales process.
  • Engage with all audit report findings, relevant to the Global Market Sales business and ensure closure of outstanding audit findings
  • Ensure speedy and positive response to all requests from customers for a specific transaction, or for more general advice, or introduction to a more appropriate contact within the Bank.
  • Implement appropriate development programs to ensure continuous enhancement of competences of the members of the team, including self.
  • Living by example and build the appropriate culture and values in line with the Bank’s values.
  • Ensure that recommended hours of learning/training are achieved for both self and direct report through E-learning, Internal & External training activities.
  • Ensure direct reports attend trainings for self and career development

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • University degree or equivalent in finance, economics, business, or a related field.

Professional:

  • ACI Dealing Certification
  • Desired work experience:
  • At least 5 years’ experience in global markets sales, investment banking, or a related field with exposure to Derivatives and other structured global markets products.
  • A sound background and knowledge of banking with particular emphasis on foreign exchange products and money market products.
  • Proven track record of success in client relationship management and revenue generation.
