About Organisation:

Kakira Sugar Limited (KSL) is a leading sugar manufacturer in Uganda. KSL boasts of two sugar estates, one in Kakira – Jinja and the other in Kayunga.

 

Job Summary: Responsible for allocating accommodations, dealing with antisocial behaviour, collecting rent arrears, arranging maintenance, enforcing housing policy, and attending meetings with tenants.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Residence Management:

  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with residents.
  • Addressing residents’ concerns and resolving issues related to their houses.
  • Ensuring residents understand and comply with their occupancy agreements

Property Management:

  • Conducting regular property inspections to ensure they meet safety and maintenance standards.
  • Managing the allocation of properties, including viewings and the letting process.
  • Overseeing maintenance and repairs, coordinating with contractors or internal teams.
  • Managing void properties, including advertising and preparing them for new tenants.
  • Implementing strategies to address rent arrears and prevent future issues.

Policy Enforcement:

  • Enforcing housing policies and regulations.
  • Addressing anti-social behaviour and other breaches.

Community Engagement:

  • Engaging with local communities to address housing-related issues.
  • Participating in initiatives to improve the quality of housing and living environments.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attending resident meetings when necessary.
  • Assisting with the implementation of housing policies and procedures.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of housing legislation and regulations.
  • Experience in property management, lettings, or housing management.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and systems.
  • A commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate Management, Property Management, Business Management Diploma in Civil Engineering.

Experience, Skills and Competences:

  • A minimum of three (3) year’s working experience as a Housing Officer or Estate Officer in a large organisation.

Specific knowledge/skills:

  • Property management and social administration, good communication and interpersonal skills.
