The company owns and operates Quality Hill mall along Ggaba Road close to the American Embassy in Kampala Uganda. It also operates a boutique hotel, Le Petit Village, a French pastry shop, La Patisserie, and a European cuisine restaurant, Le Chateau Brasserie Belge.

 

Job Summary: Sokoni Africa Limited is seeking a skilled and meticulous Hotel Cost Controller to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling costs specific to our hotel operations. Your expertise will be vital in maintaining budgetary adherence, improving financial performance, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee cost management for all departments within the hotel to ensure revenue maximization and expense control
  • Develop and implement cost control policies and procedures tailored to hotel operations
  • Analyze financial data and prepare reports on cost trends, variances, and forecasting
  • Collaborate with department heads to establish budgets and ensure proper tracking of expenses
  • Conduct regular audits of spending and inventory levels to prevent over-expenditure
  • Monitor food and beverage costs, labor, and other operational expenses
  • Implement inventory management practices to mitigate waste and loss
  • Prepare and present detailed cost reports to management and recommend corrective actions as necessary

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Hospitality Management
  • Proven experience as a Cost Controller in the hotel industry or in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations and cost control principles
  • Excellent analytical and financial reporting skills
  • Proficient in financial management software and MS Office Suite
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
