Job Summary: An exciting opportunity has become available at AFRIpads and we’re looking for a vibrant, energetic, flexible, talented Fleet & Operations Coordinator to support our operations team in managing the fleet and supporting the operations processes. We’re looking for a proactive team player that has a strong sense of reliability and good planning skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The role sits in the Operations department, reporting to the Logistics Manager. The operations department consists of 1 Logistics, 1 Procurement and 2 drivers, as well as a head of department. Your role will be supporting the logistics and procurement personnel while giving direction to the drivers. You will be a pivotal contributor to mainly logistics activities, while supporting on other operational activities like stores and procurement.
Fleet
- Coordinate and monitor the company’s fleet operations, including scheduling, dispatching, and tracking vehicle usage.
- Oversee fleet maintenance and inspections to ensure vehicles are running smoothly and comply with safety standards. Source parts and obtain quotations for parts.
- Coordinate fuel supply for all vehicles and maintain up-to-date records of fuel usage.
- Maintain records of vehicle documentation, repairs, and fuel usage.
- In case of driver shortage, support with delivering stock.
Operations
- Operations lead for field trips: coordinate drivers, book hotels, secure stock for the trips and safety considerations.
- Support procurement activities by sourcing new suppliers and be responsible for overseeing property maintenance.
- Support with inventory management and stock verification in the Kampala stores.
- Assist with other administrative tasks and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Degree in transport, logistics, fleet management or related fields from a recognised institution of higher learning
- 3 Years minimum working experience as a Logistics Assistant/ Fleet Clerk / Operations Assistant or similar category in a busy environment
- At least 4 years driving experience
- Excellent understanding of vehicles
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (English)
- Computer and technology skills: Excel and Microsoft Office
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience dealing with drivers and mechanics
- Knowledge or experience in automobiles an added advantage
- Experience working in commercial or non-governmental sectors
- Excellent at problem solving
- Personality profile: practical, highly organized, responsive, persistent, likable, resourceful, likes challenges
