Job Summary: Our client is looking for a motivated Driver to join their distribution team. This role involves safely transporting goods while actively engaging with retailers, wholesalers, and other customers to drive sales and expand their market reach. The ideal candidate will have strong sales skills, excellent customer service, and a keen understanding of distribution operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely deliver goods to retailers, wholesalers, and other clients, ensuring timely distribution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to secure repeat business.
- Promote and sell company products, identifying new sales opportunities
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of goods.
- Negotiate deals, take customer orders, and process transactions.
- Monitor stock levels in the delivery vehicle and manage inventory accordingly.
- Provide market feedback on customer preferences, competitor activity, and industry trends.
- Maintain a clean driving record and ensure vehicle upkeep.
- Work closely with the direct sales representatives teams to achieve revenue goals.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Valid Ugandan National driver’s license.
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressive responsible experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required.
- Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans and other kinds of motorized vehicles specifically classes B1, C1, D1, is required.
- A valid defensive driving certificate is desirable
- Prior experience in sales or distribution is an advantage.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Knowledge of local routes and customer locations.
- Organized and detail-oriented with good problem-solving skills.
- Physically fit, able to handle product loading/unloading when needed.
