Job Summary: The Substation Automation Engineer will have a diversified portfolio of technical functions consistent with the Development and Engineering of applications for Substation Automation Systems with Gateways, HMI and Communication requirements. A good knowledge on SCADA, PLCs, structured cabling, microcontrollers and software programming& configuration is essential.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish the data exchange between bay-level and station-level.
- Configuration and testing of NCC /CCR interface.
- Comply with Safety and cyber security policies, practices, and procedures.
- Support site organization during Installation, PreCommissioning and commissioning stage and ensure compliance with Quality Procedures, work instructions and processes.
- FAT preparation and conduct internal validation followed by customer FAT /SAT to ensure successful project delivery.
- Analyze and interpret technical procedures, governmental regulations, different problems on our equipment and provide appropriated answer.
- Analyze and explain reports results to customers and management.
- Proactive participation to team collective initiatives & management meetings to achieve Project goals (SIM1)
- Understand scope of work, respect time allocation to perform job and ensure full traceability (timesheet, change order etc.)
- Support planners, coordinators, project manager to get good customer site condition understanding.
- Training Customer maintenance and operative staff
- Escalate quality or technical issue detected on field.
- Use all digital tools designed for SE Onsite deployment.
- Advise customers on different opportunities to optimize its install base and create lead generation business opportunities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- University Degree in Electronics/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
- Certification & accreditation with local professional bodies, ERB, CRB, PMI etc.
- EWURA Practicing License or Equivalent
- IT/Networking/Cybersecurity Certificate is an added advantage
Experience
- 5 years minimum relevant experience in substation automation projects
- Previous Experience with Schneider SAS or Equivalent OEM
- Experience in Protection Configurations is an added advantage
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge in preparation of design documents & substation automation
- configuration/database for substation automation projects.
- Ability to conduct FAT/SAT with reference to project specification.
- Good experience in IEC61850, IEC-101, IEC104 and other substation automation communication protocols based on MicroSCADA X, MODBUS, OPC DA/UA etc.
- Good knowledge in Ethernet topologies and various redundancy concepts
- Ability and willingness to travel across the region
- Strong Customer orientation mindset
- Willingness to learn new competencies (Technical, Digital, Soft Skills…)
- Collaborative attitude with internal entities (Planners, Project Managers, Technical Support…)
