Having pioneered the reusable sanitary pad market in East Africa, AFRIpads has reached more than 1 million women and girls with its product.
Job Summary: As Business Development Manager, you’ll take charge of expanding our reach across Africa by working closely with NGOs, UN agencies, and development partners. Your mission is to unlock new business opportunities, rebuild relationships with past clients, and act as a trusted advisor to our partners on menstrual health products and services.
You’ll be a key player in refining and executing our B2B sales strategy, managing a diverse portfolio of accounts, and opening new markets. It’s a dynamic role where relationship-building meets strategy — and where your impact will be felt by girls and women across the continent.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Grow and manage key partnerships across Africa
- Lead strategic sales and account management
- Spot new opportunities and open up new markets
- Serve as an expert advisor for clients on integration of menstrual health and hygiene in programs
- Help evolve and roll out our B2B sales strategy
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Passion for social development and economic growth in the African context
- Robust negotiation skills, influencing capabilities, and analytical acumen
- Willingness to adapt to flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and enthusiasm for extensive travel across Africa
- Excel in client relationship management, sales, and customer service, with the ability to surpass sales targets
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a high proficiency in written (email) correspondence and strong presentation abilities. Mastery of English, both written and oral, is imperative
- Proven ability to strategically organize and plan tasks independently, with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to interact professionally and with sensitivity across culturally diverse staff and customers.
- Uphold a strong work ethic, coupled with good moral judgment.
- Proven track record in B2B or institutional sales
- Strong communicator with solid negotiation skills
- Passion for social impact and development
- Comfortable with frequent travel and flexible hours
- Pro with CRM tools and Microsoft Office
- Fluent in English; French is a big plus
- Knowledge of and experience with NGO/UN systems is a plus
