Job Summary: To lead and support Commercial units in being data driven with respect to planning, decision making, and execution thereby maximizing acquisition efforts, transaction levels and overall revenues from customers, agents, merchants and other players in the eco-system.

Tightly support commercial operations in effective initiation, tracking and closing of projects and tasks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of short- and long-term vision and strategic plans for commercial strategy, new business models and business digitization, both portfolio and market perspective.
  • Build relationships across all levels with various functions spanning Commercial, Finance Operations, Finance, Legal and Compliance, IT and BI functions to able to drive commitment and implement innovation.
  • Generate insights from internal advanced analytics and screening of commercial and technology development of the industry to initiate commercial strategy discussions.
  • Follow up the MTN MoMo Opco and Group strategy and ensure the different sections within commercial are on track.
  • Work with the Finance and Products departments in agreeing of pricing for services and drawing financial models or business cases of the impact this will have.
  • Analyze the impact of strategies, pricing decisions on the market and overall business performance post implementation.
  • Analyze competitive positioning of MTN MoMo in the market, scrutinize the performance of competitors and the products in the market.
  • Understand the business and market trends that impact our clients and develop analysis and insights to support decision-making.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of data to identify opportunities, optimize performance, and inform strategic decisions.
  • Build business models to evaluate the business impact of proposed initiatives in terms of new customers, churn/retention, usage behavior, sensitivities and revenues.
  • Develop data visualization presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to Opco and group stakeholders.
  • Review commission structures and advise on their suitability against the budget and driving acquisition targets.
  • Break down the overall business KPIs to specific KPIs for the different units in commercial and monitor performance.
  • Monitor actual business performance results against budgets and engage the respective sections for accountability.
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis and special reports as requested by the Manager, Commercial Performance.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all work products.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Proactively identify areas for process improvement and make recommendations for change.
  • Stay abreast of latest industry trends and best practices.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Annual Strategic Plan for Commercial FinTech.
  • Quarterly Strate. Plan plus business cases.
  • Quarterly Analysis of all verticals in commercial from KPIs to granular level.
  • Monthly and weekly Action plans plus variance analysis including bridge plans in place.
  • Approved Price plans plus relevant business cases for each.
  • Weekly Activity Tracker for all actions in Commercial.
  • Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly plans, Ops review decks and Board plans to deliver commercial strategy

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • A degree in business related or numerical field with a strong bias to Data Science.
  • Proficient with business Analytics, Insight generation and data visualization at advanced level is essential.
  • Knack for Business case generation and project management.

Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in supporting business through development of business cases, performance tracking and strategy coordination.
  • Strong interpersonal relations with ease of cross-functional collaboration.
  • A proven track record in developing business models that are practical and insightful.

Skills

  • Ability to develop relevant business trackers to cause action and change.
  • Strong communicator both orally and through data story telling using modern/digital tools.
  • Confident to question trends and provoke new thinking.
  • Extremely action oriented with sharp focus on results.
