Job Title: Well Control Engineer

CNOOC International is one of the largest oil and gas companies in Uganda’s energy sector and owns one-third interests in each of Exploration Areas (EA) EA1/1A, EA2 and Kingfisher. Our partners are Total E&P Uganda (33.3%) and Tullow Oil (33.3%). CNOOC International operates the Kingfisher production license.
Job Summary: Responsible for technical support and data management related to well control during site operations and assist the Well Control Manager in carrying out well control management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine well control management and develop well control management system documents.
- Participate in well control inspections and acceptance of well control equipment from drilling contractors on site, summarize non-conforming items and supervise relevant rectifications.
- Organize and join/incorporate well control inspection prior to drilling into the reservoir information.
- Track the improvement and implementation of well control technical measures of each single well.
- Supervise the standardized installation of well control equipment, the inspection and recording of well control emergency materials, promptly coordinate and deal with problems found.
- Perform other duties assigned by superiors.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum engineering, drilling and completion, or the related.
- At least 4 years of working experience in a similar role, preferably in the Oil and Gas Industry.
- Knowledge:
- Basic knowledge of drilling & completion operations and well control
- Knowledge of the local petroleum regulations and laws.
- Understanding of drilling & completion general procedure.
