Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled Solar Electrician with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in solar PV system installations, electrical wiring, and maintenance. The ideal candidate must hold a Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field and will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining solar power systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, commission, and maintain solar PV panels, inverters, charge controllers, batteries (Solar Powe Systems)
- Perform electrical wiring, conduit installation, and termination for solar power systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults in solar PV systems, including DC/AC circuits and grounding.
- Ensure all installations comply with Uganda’s electrical codes, safety standards, and company guidelines.
- Conduct site assessments and provide technical recommendations for solar system designs.
- Work closely with engineers and technicians to complete projects efficiently.
- Test system performance using multimeters, clamp meters, and PV analyzers.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, inspections, and maintenance reports.
- Adhere to workplace safety protocols, including PPE and fall protection measures.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field (mandatory).
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience as an Electrician or Solar Technician, with hands-on solar PV installation experience.
- Strong knowledge of off-grid and grid-tied solar systems, including hybrid systems.
- Proficiency in electrical wiring, circuit testing, and fault-finding in solar installations.
- Familiarity with solar mounting structures, earthing systems, and surge protection.
- Ability to interpret electrical diagrams and solar system schematics.
- Willingness to travel to project sites across Uganda.
