About Organisation:

The National Crops Resources Research Institute (NaCRRI), one of the 16 Public Agricultural Research Institutes (PARIs) under the National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO), is leading implementation of the project Microbial Insecticide, Fungicide, and Nematidde for African Crops – Phase II.”

This project focuses on developing microbial solutions to manage critical agricultural pests and diseases affecting important crops, including: yam. potato, sweetpotato. sorghum, banana, and maize. Targeted pests and pathogens include the sweetpotato weevil, root-knot and other nematodes, and the fungal diseases black sigatoka. sorghum anthracnose and aflatoxin in Maize. By offering safe and sustainable alternatives to chemical pestodes. the project aims to improve crop productivity and marketability for smallholder and pre- commerdal farmers in Africa.

Job Summary: To be responsible for the effective planning, coordination and execution of project activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for project stakeholders
  • Lead, support and hold the implementation team accountable
  • Liaise with Contracted Research Organizations involved in the project
  • Organize and facilitate quarterly and annual review meetings
  • Prepare and submit project progress reports to NARO and the project funders
  • Establish and maintain project administrative, financial, monitoring and evaluation systems
  • Organize stakeholder reflection and learning sessions
  • Prepare annual work plans, budgets and progress updates
  • Facilitate communication across national and regional partners




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • An Honors Bachelors of Science Degree in Agriculture
  • Master’s degree in Agricultural and biological science
  • Additional qualifications, experience and knowledge in project planning, management monitoring and evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience management of related project or administration is an added advantage.
  • Proven experience of 5 years managing donor-funded agricultural or plant health projects. Spelling of Health there needs to be corrected.
  • Public engagement experience is an added advantage.
