Job Summary: The GHS’s vaccines and Medical Countermeasures program area supports the development, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring of vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics targeting priority pathogens. The Project Pharmacist will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, effective, and quality-assured management and use of medical countermeasures during clinical trials, emergency preparedness, and public health response activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the coordination and implementation of MCM activities, including preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.
- Support the development and rollout of pharmacovigilance and drug safety surveillance systems during MCM deployment.
- Contribute to the development of guidelines, SOPs, and training materials for the use of novel diagnostics, vaccines and therapeutics
- Assist in the collection and analysis of data related to MCM development, deployment and safety monitoring to inform risk-benefit assessments and regulatory decisions.
- Work with supply chain teams to forecast demand, track inventory, and ensure cold chain integrity for vaccine products.
- Participate in monitoring and evaluation of medical countermeasure deployment at facility and community levels including emergency preparedness.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to establish and maintain robust adverse event monitoring and reporting systems.
- Support the documentation and dissemination of lessons learned and best practices.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BPharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD); with a minimum GPA of 4.0 obtained from a chartered university. A Master’s degree in Public Health, Clinical Pharmacology, or a related field is an advantage.
- Registered with the Pharmacy Board and the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda and in good professional standing.
