Location: FH Uganda (Napak, Nakapiripirit Kabong)

Job Summary: Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Nutrition Officer for the “Improving Local Food Systems through Schools as Catalytic Platforms” project in the Karamoja sub-region will provide technical leadership and operational support on all nutrition and health-related activities. This role will ensure effective integration of health, nutrition, and climate adaptation interventions within schools and communities to improve dietary diversity and the quality of school meals. The officer will support the implementation of school feeding initiatives, promote optimal nutrition practices, build the capacity of key stakeholders (teachers, School management committees, school clubs and cooks) and strengthen community systems to achieve sustainable nutrition outcomes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: As the Nutrition Officer your overall responsibilities will be (JDs Key Result Areas):

  • Project Design, planning and management
  • Integration of health, agriculture and school-based nutrition
  • Strategic partnerships networking and Community Engagement
  • Monitoring, learning, and reporting

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in community nutrition programming, preferably in home grown school feeding, or food systems strengthening projects.
  • Proven experience in implementing integrated programs that combine nutrition, health agriculture, livelihoods and climate smart agriculture adaptation in schools and community.
  • Familiarity with Uganda’s policy environment on National school feeding policy, systems strengthening, MoES nutrition curriculum, and SBCC methodologies and nutrition sensitive interventions
  • Proven experience in training and mentoring staff, farmers, schools and community members.
  • Experience working with government entities and multilateral or donor partners such as WFP is an added advantage
  • Experience working in Karamoja or similar context is an advantage.
  • MUST be able to ride with a VALID riding permit

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition, Public Health, Food Science, Dietetics, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification in similar field is an added advantage

  • Ability to write high quality donor reports.
  • Strong ability to plan, implement, and monitor integrated school feeding programmes effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders and foster partnerships
  • Committed to engaging and empowering communities to improve nutrition, livelihoods, and resilience.
  • Critical thinking skills and adaptability to changing environments.
  • Commitment to community engagement and participatory approaches.
