Afya na Haki (Ahaki) is an African research and training institute that uses africentric approaches to generate knowledge and enhance advocacy capacities in the areas of Health, Human Rights and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

Job Summary: The Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Lead is a strategic role responsible for designing and implementing M&E systems across Ahaki’s academic and civil society programs. The position ensures data-driven decision-making, impact measurement, and adaptive learning to strengthen health systems and pandemic response in Africa.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategy & Institutional M&E Frameworks

  • Develop and refine Ahaki’s M&E strategy, aligning with its dual mandate (academic and civil society).
  • Create results frameworks, logic models, and theories of change for programs.

Program Monitoring & Adaptive Learning

  • Design real-time tracking systems (dashboards, scorecards) for program performance.
  • Facilitate learning reviews and evidence-based reflection sessions.

Research & Evaluation

  • Lead impact assessments, operational research, and external evaluations.
  • Synthesize findings to inform program improvements and policy influence.

Capacity Building & Systems Strengthening

  • Train staff in M&E tools and foster a culture of data use and learning.
  • Develop institutional guidelines for reporting and documentation.

Data Governance & Reporting

  • Ensure data quality, compliance, and timely donor/board reporting.
  • Contribute to academic publications and grant proposals.

Collaboration & Representation

  • Work with directors, deans, and communications teams to align M&E with priorities.
  • Represent Ahaki in technical working groups and global partnerships.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • Proficiency in M&E tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, PowerBI, STATA, NVivo).
  • Experience bridging academic metrics and development outcomes (e.g., SDGs).
  • Leadership:
  • Ability to design adaptive M&E systems and lead evaluations.
  • Communication:
  • Fluency in English; skilled at translating data for diverse audiences.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Experience working with donors, policymakers, and multicultural teams.
