Job Summary: Watoto is seeking to recruit a Medical Officer to provide medical care and consultation services across the Watoto medical centers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Provision of clinical services to Watoto village clinics.
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based clinical services tailored to the needs of Watoto childcare clients.
- Deliver patient-centered care, prioritization of examinations, diagnoses, treatment, and emergency response.
- Coordinate referrals, review patient information, and follow up with specialists for feedback and management plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, adhering to Watoto Medical Services and Ministry of Health guidelines.
- Contribute to policy development and guideline creation for standardized care.
- Actively contribute to monthly village meetings, weekly clinic meetings, and team meetings, and assist the Clinic Coordinator with strategic planning and development.
Education, Teaching and Mentorship.
- Maintain knowledge and skills through regular training and education.
- Evaluate clinical staff’s knowledge and practice gaps and develop tailored education and support cross-departmental staff training and education on health topics.
- Engage in health promotion initiatives, such as health education and immunizations, as coordinated by Watoto Medical Services.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the role should hold at least a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery.
- Master’s degree in public health is an added advantage.
- A minimum of 2 years’ post internship work experience in a clinical role
- Practicing License (APL) from Uganda Medical & Dental Practitioners
- Possess clinical expertise, good communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Possess Adaptability and Flexibility.
- A team player, result oriented, self – motivated, able to work with minimum supervision.
- Willingness to regularly travel and work in hard-to-reach areas.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural setting.
