Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE) is a national women’s non-governmental organization based in Kampala. Forum for Women in Democracy is a non-partisan women’s organization operating in Uganda with its head office in Kampala. FOWODE grew out of the Women’s Caucus of the 1994 –1995 Constituent Assembly (CA) that debated and passed the 1995 Constitution. The organization’s mission is to promote gender equality in all areas of decision making through capacity development, community empowerment, policy engagement and strategic partnerships.
Job Summary: The M&E Assistant will provide support in the collection, management, and analysis of data to track the progress and impact of FOWODE’s programs. They will work under the supervision of the M&E Officer to ensure timely and accurate data reporting and support learning processes within the organization. This position is based at the FOWODE Head office in Kampala.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure availability and effective utilization of data collection tools across all program activities through collaboration with program staff.
- Support updating and maintaining a centralized data infrastructure for all MEAL-related information across programs and projects.
- Support accountability to project beneficiaries by establishing effective feedback and response mechanisms.
- Work with the MEAL officer to prepare data summary analysis for all the implementation indicators.
- Provide technical support to field teams and partner staff on MEAL system operations, data management, and data quality.
- Support the
- use and optimization of online data collection and management platforms, such as Kobo Collect, including training and capacity building for field teams, partner staff, and short-term data collectors/enumerators on effective application and troubleshooting.
- Maintain project databases and ensure data quality, integrity, and security
- Participate in the development of monthly reports and organize information for quarterly and annual reports.
- Work with field teams to identify and document impact stories and best practices, and share them through regular M&E reporting and knowledge management platforms.
- Support M&E officer to monitor project activities and outputs to ensure alignment with project indicators and targets.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor of Statistics, Quantitative Economics, Development Studies, Social Sciences and any relevant qualification.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring & Evaluation is an added advantage.
- At least 1-2 years’ experience in M&E, data management, and documentation within the NGO or development sector.
- Proficiency in M&E tools and software (e.g., Excel, KoboToolbox, PowerBi, ODK, SPSS, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment.
