Job Title: Internal Audit Assistant

About Organisation:
Uganda Christian University (UCU) is an authentic Christian institution established by the Church of Uganda in 1997 in response to a call for quality university education with a Christian perspective. Uganda Christian University replaced the historic Bishop Tucker Theological College which trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assisting Internal Auditor in performing audit engagements
- Reviewing of university payments to ensure compliance with procedures, efficiency, and economy in operations
- Undertaking spot checks and assisting in any investigations.
- Following up on past audit recommendations to ensure timely implementation by management
- Witnessing of stock counts and deliveries
- In charge of organizing and maintaining audit files and working papers.
- Any other duties as described by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance/Business Administration/Commerce, Majoring in Accounting and Finance from a recognized institution of higher learning.
- Must be fully registered with professional bodies like CPA or ACCA
- Must have three (3) years of experience as an Internal or external Auditor in a reputable organization.
- In-depth understanding of Auditing and control practices
- Strong accounting and analytical skills
- Integrity and reliability
- Must possess strong analytical, written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Must have advanced computer skills in MS Office, Accounting software like SAP, and FOCUS.
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and to compile detailed reports.
- Proven knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules, and regulations.
- Demonstrate high standards of integrity, ethics, objective judgment, and independence
- Should be a mature and committed Christian.
