Job Summary: The Human Resource (HR) Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting the HR daily operations. This position serves as the backbone of administrative efficiency, ensuring that HR processes run smoothly and that employees receive timely and accurate support. The HR Assistant works closely with HR Team and the consultancy firm, and other staff to uphold company policies, foster a positive workplace culture, and maintain compliance with labor regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides expertise on a broad and comprehensive range of human resources activities, including recruitment, compensation, performance management, talent development, employment transactions, policy compliance, and other related HR functional areas.
- Serves as a first point-of-contact for departments regarding HR concerns, needs and issues; evaluates situations, navigates and directs departments to the various resources available; partners with HR specialty areas across the Division of Human Resources to address organizational needs.
- Provides advice to management regarding adherence to applicable Employment laws as well as Trade Unions, policies and procedures; identifies innovative solutions and options to address complex human resource management issues.
- Assists departments, as needed, in identifying opportunities to enhance departmental operations, policies, and procedures.
- Carries out business development to grow the company’s portfolio
- Conducts general needs analyses and provides recommendations to management regarding opportunities for improvement; develops and delivers routine training, as needed.
- Maintains knowledge of the company policies, processes and resources, as well as applicable laws.
- Assists with projects to improve the quality of HR consulting services provided to the company
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- 2-3 years of human resource working experience.
- A bachelor’s in human resource management or an equivalent.
- Knowledge of the Ugandan laws and regulations.
- Great communication and hospitality skills.
