Job Summary: Agricado Farms is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Supply Chain and Logistics Manager to lead and coordinate the full supply chain of our Hass Avocado operations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of horticultural production, farmer engagement, extension team management, and logistics coordination. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient and cost-effective delivery of high-quality Hass Avocados from farm to export.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Farmer Network Management:
- Lead the registration and onboarding of Hass Avocado farmers into the Agricado supply chain.
- Build strong relationships with farmers to ensure adherence to quality, traceability, and sustainability standards.
- Maintain an up-to-date farmer database and ensure all compliance records are accurately documented.
Extension Team Oversight:
- Manage and support extension teams providing agronomic and technical support to farmers.
- Set targets, monitor performance, and ensure effective delivery of services and farmer training.
- Coordinate continuous capacity building for field officers and extension staff.
Harvesting & Logistics Planning:
- Develop and implement harvesting schedules in line with fruit maturity, quality requirements, and market timelines.
- Coordinate logistics from farm gate to packhouse, ensuring efficiency, minimal losses, and traceability.
- Work closely with the logistics and export teams to align operations with market demands.
Cost and Process Optimization:
- Identify and implement strategies to reduce operational costs while maintaining high-quality outputs. o Streamline communication across departments and stakeholders for operational efficiency. o Apply data-driven decision-making to improve supply chain performance.
Digital Tools and Traceability:
- Manage the use of traceability and supply chain management software or apps across all levels. o Ensure field data collection and reporting are consistent, accurate, and aligned with traceability protocols.
Training and Capacity Building:
- Coordinate and oversee farmer training programs on best practices in avocado production, post-harvest handling, and certification standards. o Collaborate with agronomists, external trainers, and certification bodies where necessary.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the horticulture or avocado sector, with direct involvement in supply chain or field operations.
- Proven experience managing farmer networks and extension teams.
- Strong knowledge of cost control, logistics, and operational efficiency.
- Hands-on experience with digital traceability platforms and farm data tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, field-oriented environment.
Preferred Attributes:
- Knowledge of global export standards and certification of Global GAP or other certification schemes.
- Passion for agricultural development and farmer empowerment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.
