Job Summary: The Guard Recruitment officer will be responsible for sourcing and screening of qualified individuals to serve as security officers. He will work closely with police, local leaders, local authorities and HR department to ensure a consistent flow of vetted and qualified guards in line with the company standards and client needs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement upcountry recruitment plans to attract qualified candidates from villages and major towns.
  • Collaborate with local council leaders and community influencers to identify potential recruits.
  • Conduct screening and vetting interviews, including background verifications such as criminal record checks and LC letters.
  • Assess physical fitness and personal discipline during recruitment drive.
  • Ensure all recruits meet the minimum academic qualification, age and health requirements.
  • Collect and verify required documents e.g., National ID, LC letters, recommendations, passport photos etc.
  • Maintain proper records of all recruitment drives.
  • Build and maintain a network of recruitment sources in targeted districts.
  • Prepare and submit monthly recruitment reports to management.
  • Track recruitment targets, retention rates and challenges in the field to support planning and deployment strategies.
  • Promote a positive image of the company within the communities.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by your supervisor

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resource Management or a relevant field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in guard recruitment, preferably in a private security company or labor service industry.
  • Strong knowledge of rural and urban dynamics.
  • Fluent in English and at least three major local languages.
  • Familiarity with Uganda labor regulations and recruitment ethics.

Key competencies/skills

  • A professional with a proven track record in security management, planning and coordinating.
  • Ability to carry out the scope of work and produce the relevant level of paperwork to support such schemes.
  • An enthusiastic and committed approach with a track record of building strong, trusted relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Sound working knowledge of security best practices and relevant legislation.
  • Strong management and leadership skills, along with excellent communication, influencing, negotiating and engagement skills.
  • A solid understanding of technology driven security solutions, with a willingness to continually upgrade that knowledge.
  • Sound judgement and decision-making skills, with a hands-on, problem-solving approach. Ability to remain calm under pressure and take control of incidents; proactive and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work as part of team and to lead teams when required.
  • Experience of writing procedures, drafting reports, compiling and adjusting requirements to meet shortfalls in staffing levels.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills to meet deadlines and pay attention to detail, with a consulting mindset.
  • Understanding financial practices such as cost control and budgeting, demonstrating financial acumen in decision making.
  • Must uphold the highest level of integrity, be vigilant and of sound judgement.
  • Should be unrelenting in the pursuit of excellence, leading by example and setting high standards.
