Sakkonet Technologies Ltd is a subsidiary company of Uganda Central Cooperative Financial Services Ltd (UCCFS) established to provide Digital Financial Services to the cooperative movement in Uganda on behalf of UCCFS. Sakkonet technologies Ltd specializes in the development, marketing and selling of SACCONet core banking solution for micro finance institutions in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Software development:
You will work under the supervision of senior developers and be expected to:
- Assist in maintaining and extending SACCONET’s legacy PHP application (monolith).
- Write, debug, and test backend code in Vanilla PHP and Laravel.
- Use MySQL to write, optimize, and manage database queries and stored procedures.
- Build and enhance front-end UI layout and functionality using JavaScript, Bootstrap and jQuery.
- Support the development of Flutter Android application, including integrating REST APIs and managing secure mobile storage.
- Participate in code reviews, pull requests, and Git version control workflows.
Website Maintenance (WordPress)
- Update and maintain content on UCCFS and SACCONET websites.
- Perform backups, plugin updates, and basic WordPress security tasks.
- Ensure mobile and browser responsiveness of site content.
SACCONET Software Installation & Networking
- Assist in LAN setup, IP addressing, cabling, router configuration of ICT Equipment
- Installation of SACCONET software on client Desktop machines
User Support & Mobilization
- Train SACCO users on SACCONET modules during initial deployment and refresh sessions.
- Provide first-line support to resolve client issues.
- Translate technical concepts into simple, non-technical terms for end-users.
- Collect user feedback to relay to the development team for product improvement.
Field Operations & SACCO Onboarding
- Travel to SACCOs across Uganda for new system deployments, troubleshooting, and user support.
- Assist in mobilizing new SACCOs, explaining system benefits, and supporting the onboarding process.
- Keep accurate logs of support visits, issues resolved, and user training delivered.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. (Must have graduated not later than 2023 with a Strong academic record)
- Solid foundation in PHP, SQL, JavaScript, HTML/CSS.
- Exposure to Laravel framework and MVC architecture is a strong plus.
- Basic experience with Bootstrap 3 and jQuery.
- Flutter for Android app development (Dart knowledge is a plus).
- Understanding of RESTful API design and consumption.
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub or similar version control tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a willingness to break down complex systems into simple logic.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Working knowledge of WordPress (installation, admin dashboard, themes, and plugins).
- Basic understanding of computer networking (IP addresses, routers, LAN, remote access).
- Familiarity with setting up Windows OS, drivers, and basic system troubleshooting.
- Ability to install and configure desktop software, printers, and network devices.
