Job Title:    Environment Ranger – 52 A’ Level Positions

About Organisation:

The National Environment Management Authority (hereinafter called “NEMA”) was established under the National Environment Act, Cap.153 in May 1995 and continued under the National Environment Act No.5 of 2019 as the principal agency for environment management in Uganda charged with regulating, supervising and coordinating all activities relating to the environment.

 

Job Summary: To support patrols/operations to protect environment against any form of degradation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, detect and proactively prevent environment crime.
  • Participate in arrests, search and support the prosecution of suspects involved in environment degradation activities.
  • Guard the environment, property, staff and visitors in areas of operation
  • Participate in monitoring critical environment ecosystems and resources and deter encroachment and degradation
  • Support in environment inspections and monitoring when assigned
  • Participate in field data collection for management decisions
  • Whenever assigned, operate radios and disseminate information to relevant personnel
  • Gather and relay intelligence to relevant personnel
  • Assist in environment awareness and education activities
  • Participate in preparing field operation reports
  • Perform any other official duty as assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • Holders of an Advanced Level Certificate of Education with a credit in English language and Mathematics at Ordinary Level.
  • Potential candidates should be 25 years and below

  • Proven medical and physical fitness
  • Ability to withstand field conditions
  • High level of integrity and accountability
  • Team work
  • Good communication skills
  • Time management
  • Eligible candidates must meet the following requirements;
  • Must be Ugandan adult citizen with original National Identity Card.
  • Must be healthy and physically fit, ready to undergo medical and physical check and a road run to test endurance and body fitness.
  • Candidates must be of good conduct with no criminal record.
  • Candidates should be ready to undergo para military training.
  • Presentation of false documents is criminal and culprits will be liable to prosecution.
