Job Title: Environment Protection Officer

About Organisation:
The National Environment Management Authority (hereinafter called “NEMA”) was established under the National Environment Act, Cap.153 in May 1995 and continued under the National Environment Act No.5 of 2019 as the principal agency for environment management in Uganda charged with regulating, supervising and coordinating all activities relating to the environment.
Job Summary: To support protection of environment from any form of degradation
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct surveillance/operations to protect environment
- Detect and proactively prevent environment crime
- Arrest, search and support prosecution of suspects involved in environment degradation
- Provide security to environment, property, staff and visitors in areas of operation
- Collect and record field data for management decision making.
- Whenever assigned, operate radios and disseminate information to relevant personnel
- Gather and relay intelligence in areas of operation
- Monitor critical environment ecosystems and resources and deter encroachment and degradation
- Assist in environment monitoring and research as and when assigned
- Assist in environment awareness and education as and when assigned
- Assist in environment inspections, monitoring and audits as and when assigned
- Prepare and submit timely operational reports
- Perform any other official duty as assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Should possess an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in either Environment and Natural Resources or Natural Science, Law, Criminology, from a recognized Institution and be ready to undergo para military training of not less than six months.
