Job Summary: The Education Advisor – Greening and Green Agrifood will co-design and develop the macro-, meso-, and micro-curriculum of a new Green Agrifood CPD course. This includes developing the course structure, content, instructional materials, and assignments in close consultation with the course coordinators and facilitators from the UNITE campuses of Mubende, Unyama and Muni and a sounding board of agrifood world of work actors.

S/he will dynamically assess the capacity development needs of the partnering UNITE campuses, and design and implement relevant capacity development trajectories that ensure partners are able to deliver this blended CPD course to O-level agriculture teachers smoothly and with quality. Together with other advisors on the programme, s/he will support the quality and fidelity of implementation of the programme at the partner level. The Education Advisor Greening and Green Agrifood will actively promote the implementation of VVOB’s Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability policy, and support team members in greening LEAP.

The Education Advisor reports to the Education Manager, works in consultation with the Strategic Education Advisor responsible for CPD, and collaborates closely with colleagues in the Green LEAP programme, and the education, operations and communication departments of VVOB in Uganda.

S/he is a member of the global Green & Gender- Transformative Pedagogy taskforce, with a key contribution in the Working Group on Skilling for Sustainable Futures (SFSF) Solutions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • You offer technical advice, guidance and support to partners and align and collaborate with internal VVOB colleagues to achieve project results and realise the educational change processes supported by the project.
  • You contribute to the identification, formulation, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project that you are assigned to in order to realise the educational change processes supported by the project.
  • You take up a variety of roles in the capacity development process of the partners according to the needs of the partner and particular situations and phases of the programme;
  • You keep abreast with policy trends, new developments and latest research and thinking in agricultural education and training, positive youth development/youth economic empowerment and international development by external and internal networking and share new insights with partners and VVOB colleagues.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • Master’s degree in agriculture, Agricultural Education,
  • Environmental Education, Agroecology, or a related field, extensive and proven experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in education or training related to green agriculture or green skills development.
  • Demonstrable expertise and experience in developing CPD courses for O-level teachers, both in-person and online.
  • Demonstrable expertise and experience in green agrifood, including in-depth understanding and knowledge of the green transition in agriculture (climate-smart agriculture, agroecology, regenerative agriculture, etc.), networking and collaboration with green agrifood world of work actors and other stakeholders.
  • Capability to appropriately plan and deploy a range of capacity development methods e.g., co-creation workshops, training, coaching, mentoring, events, study visits, etc. to strengthen educational institutions and accompany change processes.
  • Excellent communication skills in listening, writing and public speaking.
  • Knowledge of and experience with programme implementation, preferably project cycle management.
