Zembo Motorcycles SMC Limited is leading the African transition to electric mobility. Based in Kampala, Uganda, we provide affordable (PayGo) electric two-wheelers to low-income motorcycle-taxi drivers, most known locally as “boda-boda ”drivers. We offer a battery swapping service to our clients, enabling to swap within minutes at any of our stations.
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Credit Analyst to join our team. This is a hands-on role focused on the daily reconciliation of client payments, identifying and resolving discrepancies, and supporting the wider credit and finance teams. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional with strong critical thinking skills, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to learn.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Payment Reconciliation
- Perform daily reconciliations of client payments against loan schedules
- Identify and investigate payment discrepancies or mismatches
- Engage internal teams and, when necessary, clients to resolve issues promptly
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date records in the system
- Data Review & Analysis
- Support the credit team in maintaining clean and accurate client account data
- Assist in compiling reports on outstanding balances, arrears, and payment trends
- Learn and use data analysis and reporting tools
Credit Support
- Collaborate with credit officers or Data Analysts to provide timely updates on account statuses
- Support ad hoc tasks such as document verification, credit file updates, or reconciliations
- Contribute to the development of process improvements in credit monitoring and reporting.
- Sales Data Management (Management Information Systems/MIS)
- Track, consolidate, and maintain accurate sales data, including down payments, contract signings, and client onboarding to the LMS.
- Support in developing and maintaining automated dashboards and reports to support the sales team and leadership.
- Generate regular MIS reports to support both sales and credit teams.
- Identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process alignment between sales and credit operations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field, or related experience instead of a degree/diploma
- Strong numeracy and logical reasoning skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and willingness to learn quickly
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- A curious mindset—willing to question, learn, and take initiative
- Ability to work well under minimal supervision and manage time effectively
- Preferable:
- Basic understanding of credit concepts (e.g., repayment schedules, overdue accounts, credit limits)
- Familiarity with reconciliation or financial reporting systems
- Knowledge of and exposure to basic data analysis tools like SQL
