Job Summary: To coordinate, streamline, and support the daily operations of plastic collection centres by ensuring efficient collection systems, accurate data entry, quality control, and proper communication between the field teams and the central office. The role focuses on optimizing collection processes, supporting Centre staff, and maintaining accurate reporting across assigned territories.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Centre Coordination & Oversight
- Support the day-to-day running of assigned plastic collection centers.
- Monitor and support center staff to ensure proper segregation, weighing, and documentation of plastics.
- Coordinate timely pick-ups and deliveries to ensure the flow of materials without backlog.
- Act as a link between collection centers and the regional office for escalations or operational support.
Data Management & Reporting
- Ensure all transactions (plastic collected, payments, supplier details) are accurately recorded in the system.
- Compile and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on plastic volumes, payments, and supplier trends.
- Conduct regular reconciliations to ensure system records match actual transactions.
Supplier & Community Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with plastic suppliers (individual collectors, community groups, schools, etc.).
- Sensitize communities about plastic recycling and promote the organization’s mission.
- Address supplier queries and ensure timely payment processing.
Quality Control
- Monitor plastic quality at collection points to reduce contamination and ensure compliance with sorting standards.
- Train center staff and suppliers on plastic grading and proper collection practices.
Logistics & Inventory
- Support center staff in managing materials handling, storage, and preparation for onward transport.
- Ensure all weighing equipment and systems are functional and calibrated.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Environmental Science, Social Work, or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in field operations, collections, or community-based programs.
- Experience working with waste management, recycling, or FMCG logistics is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data entry systems, or mobile-based reporting tools.
- Excellent communication skills in English and at least one local language relevant to the area of deployment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively to remote or rural areas within Uganda.
