Job Summary: The Bakery Quality Controller will be responsible for conducting tests and analyses to determine the quality of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products. This role is essential for maintaining our high-quality standards and requires a detail-oriented individual who can proactively identify and resolve issues
Location: Nansana
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspecting products: Checking baked goods for appearance, texture, taste, and consistency.
- Quality control checks: Conducting regular quality control checks throughout the production process.
- Identifying defects: Identifying and reporting any defects or inconsistencies in products.
- Maintaining standards: Ensuring products meet company quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
- Implementing quality procedures: Developing and implementing quality control procedures to ensure consistency and excellence.
- Collaborating with the production team: Working with the production team to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
- Record-keeping: Maintaining accurate records of quality control checks, defects, and corrective actions.
- Food grade processes: Knowledge of processes and procedures to ensure food safety and quality.
- UNBS requirements: Familiarity with standards and regulations set by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS).
- UNBS audits: Experience in conducting or managing audits to ensure compliance with UNBS standards.
- Team leadership: Ability to lead and manage a team, likely in a quality control or assurance role.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Post-secondary Diploma in Food Sciences and Technology or other related fields such as: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance and Certificate in Bakery Science or Pastry Arts
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in quality control.
Required skills include:
- Attention to detail: Carefully inspecting products to identify defects.
- Knowledge of baking processes: Understanding baking techniques, ingredients, and production processes.
- Quality control skills: Ability to implement and maintain quality control procedures.
- Communication skills: Effectively communicating quality issues and recommendations to the production team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment.
- Familiarity with investigating questionable test results.
- Knowledge of computers and electronics.
- Certifications in Food Safety and Hygiene are an added advantage.
