Motion Logistics is a registered company in Uganda. They are primarily a logistics company who specialize in managing the flow of goods, information, and resources from origin to consumption, encompassing transportation, warehousing, and supply chain operations.
Job Summary: We are seeking to hire an experienced assistant operations manager with at least 8 years of experience in the shipping and logistics industry with a strong background in freight forwarding business. The primary purpose of this role is to manage day to day operations, close monitoring and supervision of the operations team and procedures, maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensure customer satisfaction and smooth execution of the logistics processes.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in logistics software, supply chain management systems, data analytics tools, knowledge of international shipping regulations and familiarity with ERP systems
- Educational requirements: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, Business Administration or a related field. Relevant certifications like Certified International Freight Forwarders (CIFF) are a plus
- Experience Level: Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics operations, or supply chain management roles with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, adaptability to changing environments, strong leadership qualities and a customer-centric approach.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of customs regulations in the EAC region, international trade compliance, incoterms, and best practices in freight forwarding operations, knowledge of port, shipping, ICD and boarder operations.
- Personal Attributes: High initiative and proactiveness, ability to maintain calmness amidst high work demands, ability to work independently and within minimum supervision and attention to detail and result oriented.
